SUSTAIN-6G – the SNS JU Sustainability Lighthouse project with key contributions to EuCNC & 6G Summit 2025 in Poznan, Poland

As the world moves toward 6G, the need for sustainable, responsible connectivity becomes increasingly urgent. At the EuCNC & 6G Summit 2025 in Poznan, Poland (3–6 June), the SUSTAIN-6G project actively contributed by shaping the discussions towards a holistic perspective on sustainability in the in context of the 6G ecosystem.

With a strong presence in workshops, special sessions, panels, posters, and live demonstrations, SUSTAIN-6G showcased its holistic framework, addressing environmental, societal, and economic dimensions of sustainability. The project emphasised both sustainable 6G technology and how 6G can support sustainability across sectors like agriculture, smart grids, and telemedicine.

Key Highlights:

Workshops & Panels: Experts from SUSTAIN-6G presented methodologies for sustainability impact assessment, discussed Key Value Indicators (KVIs), and highlighted the need to address sustainability in a holistic perspective including trade-offs between different goals, as well as with performance.

Use Cases: Real-world live demonstrations at the SUSTAIN-6G booth, with a focus on connected agriculture and environmental sensing use cases.

Societal Impact: Dedicated sessions addressed social acceptance and policy implications, ensuring future networks align with public values and stakeholder needs.

Through strategic input across multiple sessions, SUSTAIN-6G contributed to build consolidating the foundation for sustainability-related standardisation, industry alignment, and a sustainable 6G ecosystem.
